The place to be on a winter’s weekend thanks to its ski slopes and lively bars, Kolasin is now recognised as ground central in Montenegro’s rapidly expanding outdoor adventure scene. Every other house seems to have either rooms for rent or a tour on offer, whether it be mountain biking, hiking or rafting. So if you’re looking to explore the region with an organized group, this is the place to come!
Thanks to the impressive Bianca Resort and Four Points by Sheraton, the town also attracts a more upmarket clientele in high season, drawn to the expansive spa and wellness facilities, reasonably priced half-board room rates and cosy log-cabin decor.
Finally, several good restaurants in town ensure there is more than enough on offer here to fill a weekend visit.
Nestled in the mountainous Bjelasica ridge, Kolasin marks the site of fierce battles waged by local tribes determined to liberate the region from the Ottomans. Finally ceded to Montenegro in 1878, it was then bombarded 18 times during World War II by the German and Italians.
