To classify any stretch of coastline as a true ‘riviera’ requires a certain number of sandy beaches and a healthy selection of waterfront restaurants, bars and clubs. The Budva Riviera certainly ticks those boxes and, as such, is an obligatory destination in any Montenegrin itinerary.
While it lacks the peace and tranquility of the Bay of Kotor, it makes up for it in sheer energy and vitality. Come summertime this stretch of coast is packed to bursting with Eastern European holidaymakers in search of sun, sea, sand and… nightlife.
With Budva town as the Riviera’s beating heart, areas such as Sveti Stefan and Rafailovici offer a more secluded, laidback place to retreat to after a day on the beach or a night on the tiles.
